The Ides is a day in March (in this case March 15 44BC) when Julius Caeser convened a meeting of an unhappy Senate in the Theatre of Pompeii. A seer warned him of danger at the meeting, where he was ultimately assassinated by stabbing. Hence the line from Shakespeare; "Beware the Ides of March.."
